Level Concept

At this point in development I would say that my game would take place on a different planet alien to our own. Since the foliage of this planet would be different from what we typically see on our planet, it would give off a sense of an alien world. For now, I will call this game Lost in the Cosmos: a survival game. The game itself will most likely take place in first person, allowing the player to gaze at the enviroment and interact with certain parts of it. The overall gameplay will be that of a survival game. The player will have the ability to interact with the enviorment in order to gather supplies. The player starts out having crashed landed on this planet during space travel and must repair their ship using the environment around them. Because this will take many in game days to accomplish, they will also have to construct shelter and get food to survive, as their small flight ship will not be enough to protect them from hostile wildlife and the environment. Aling the way they will encounter ruins that they can explore which gives them extenced lore of the ancient race of people that used to occupy the land. Perhaps these ruins play into the over story as well? Maybe the race of people were wiped out by an alien species that the player must defeat in order to extract the important components necessary to fix their ship? In order to defeat this threat they must look to the past and study artifacts from this extinct race while also trying to survive?
This environment I'm making would be a simple slice of that world. It would probably be the first thing the player would see upon starting a new game. It will have an abondonded ruin near a beach side near a forest to explore. The forest trees will have leaves of a warm orange color. The grass will be reddish with a light blue ocean. All of these warm colors will aid in the overall calm and serene atmoshphere I want for the final product. With the nearby ruins one gets a sense of nature coming back to dominate the landscape after whoever inhabited the area has long sense left or escaped or died out. One could say it is the overall theme of my concept level. Since resource gathering is a core mechanics of the game, obviously a natural environment like this would fit perfectly with the hypothetical game I have in mind.
